Behavioural therapy is based on behaviourism, the idea that we learn how to behave from our environment. So, for example, if your mum took you to the beach after going to the dentist, you’d learn to associate your dentist with a fun afternoon, which would make you more willing to go to those regular check-ups. It tries to help you make or modify these associations so that you can replace old problem behaviours with new, more helpful ones. There are two basic approaches that Lex uses in behavioural therapy
Behavioural therapy is based on the idea that we learn from our environment and behavioural cognitive therapy uses our thinking as well It aims to change unwanted behaviours by:
First, he can help you form associations between your behaviour and a neutral stimulus to encourage or discourage specific behaviours. For example, if you had a fear of flying, you could learn a relaxation technique to use when you were about to board a plane.
The second approach involves Lex helping you find reinforcements or disincentives to encourage or discourage a specific behaviour. For example, this could involve buying your child a new toy as a reward for achieving his goals in school or giving no attention to whining behaviour.
One very useful type of behavioural therapy is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). In CBT, the therapist helps you to understand the links between thoughts and behaviour, and how you can change your thinking to change your behaviour - and vice versa.

Thank you for your help with Jeremy. We had real worries about his schoolwork. Most appreciative of the work you did with him and the teacher. It seems to be working and he is definitely much happier now.”
